Michael Penix Jr Cleared to Play for Falcons in October Game

Michael Penix Jr., the quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons, has been cleared to play in the upcoming game against the Chicago Bears. He had suffered a rib injury in the previous week’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, causing him to miss part of that contest and overtime. Despite this, he’s been fully participating in practices all week and does not have any injury designation. Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski has confirmed that Penix won’t need special protection for his ribs and the team’s offensive scheme will remain unchanged.

Penix’s return is notable since the team had struggled without him, scoring the lowest in the league at only 16 points across the first two games under third-string quarterback Cooper Rush. In contrast, with Penix, the Falcons scored a combined total of 80 points over two weeks, leading the league. His stats for the season include completing 67.5% of his passes for 719 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception.
