Tommy Tremble’s Apology for Taunting During Panthers’ Win

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble apologized for an incident during the game against the Philadelphia Eagles. In the fourth quarter, Tremble caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Bryce Young and pointed at Eagles’ defensive back Cooper DeJean, which resulted in a taunting penalty. This pushed back the extra point attempt to 48 yards, and Panthers kicker Ryan Fitzgerald missed it.

Tremble explained that his gesture was in response to DeJean’s earlier personal foul against Panthers tight end Mitchell Evans. During a play, DeJean was penalized for unnecessary roughness after a physical altercation with Evans. Tremble said he felt the need to respond because he thought DeJean’s actions toward Evans were unjustified.

Tremble caught four passes totaling 46 yards and scored both of the Panthers’ receiving touchdowns in their 25-14 victory. Teammates praised Tremble’s overall performance and spirit following the game. He regretted the taunt but felt compelled to stand up for his teammate at the moment.
